The end of the first week.

So, it’s getting to the end of my first week as a recruiter and I have to dispel any myths that chefs might have about recruitment agents. It’s been hard; people not returning your calls, getting suitable vacancies that you know you can fill and so the list goes on. That coupled with high levels of rejection.

As a new business it’s tough out there, but it doesn’t stop trying to be a better agency. The quote,

Build it & they will come.

clearly wasn’t thought of in the modern age. It is almost a case of who has the best PR or social media skills, along with an expansive database.

Despite trying to focus on relief chefs, I seem to have picked several permanent roles:

  • Chef de Partie, South Cotswolds: £18k
  • Sous, Chef de Partie & Commis, Oxfordshire: £23k, £17k & £14k respectively.
  • 10-14 Chefs for a new project in Cornwall.
